Cranford VFW
doubled up the American Legion by a score of 24-14 at Tremley Field.
For the Legion, Bill Daniel took the mound and
contributed with 3 hits at the plate. Ed Kushner, Gene Antonucci,
Walter Serafyn, Glenn Sytko, Jack Helfrich, Jimmy Caravano and John Symczak
also had 3 hits each. |

Yogi's Boys 10, Avengers 1 |
|
In a
rain-shortened 5 inning game, Yogi's Boys defeated the Avengers 10-1
under the lights at Tremley field. The
Yogi's hitters who were perfect at the plate were Joe Massimino, Frank
Deluca, Rick Wilson and Larry Berra. Also helping out was Anthony
Santorelli with 2 hits and a mammoth home run. For the
Avengers, Anthony Abbaleo and Leo DiGuilio had a pair of hits each. |

LLG’s leadoff man
Tom MacDermant was hotter than the weather with 4 sizzling line drive
hits. Andre Thomas’ HR, Don Miller’s triple and Mike Guatta’s
double ensured there was no power outage. Steve Pietrucha (double) and
Paul Southwick offered no relief to the opposition collecting 3 hits each and
scoring 6 runs. For Kilkenny, Bill Vanderstreet and Bob D'Meo had
3 hits each. |

Creative Industries Too 19, DeBellis
Associates 15 |
|
Creative won their
second game of the season, beating DeBellis Associates 19-15 at Linden
Memorial field. For Creative, Ken Hopper, Neil Berger, Floyd
Roberts, Steve Crystal and Joe McEvoy each had 3 hits on the
night. For DeBellis, Rich Grossberg
was 4 for 4, Rich Silva and Johnny Miller each had 3
hits, and Art Martines, "Brooklyn Bruce" Bilotti and Jorge
Barca contributed 2 hits each. |

The Avengers 9, DeBellis Associates 8 |
|
The Avengers
defeated DeBellis Associates 9-8 at Tremley Field. Trailing 6-3 after the first
inning, the Avengers scored 6 runs in the last six innings,
and a solid defense limited DeBellis to 2 runs for the remainder of
the game. For the Avengers at the plate, Geno Raisley was 3 for 3.
Adding 2 hits each were Moe Fernandez, Bob Hoffman (great outfield defense
also), Richie Krov, Tom Connolly and Teo Fernandez. |

Kilkenny House 10, American Legion 9 |
|
Kilkenny House
nipped the American Legion 10-9 at Linden Memorial field. Down 8-2 in the
bottom of the 3rd, Kilkenny scored 5 runs
and 3 more in the bottom of the 4th to take the lead and hold the Legion
to only 1 run in the last 4 innings.
Kilkenny was led by Ron Kulik, Al Feigenbaum, Bill Vanderstreet
and Bob D'Meo, all with multiple
hits. For the Legion, George Vircik
pitched and Bill Daniel and Jimmy Caravano each had 3 hits. |

Yogi's Boys 12, Awnings Galore 5 |
|
An error followed
by three consecutive singles and a base on balls to open the game had Awnings
Galore hopeful that their recent hitting woes had come to an end, but they
were held scoreless in five of the next six innings, falling to rival Yogi’s
Boys 12-5 at Rahway River Park. Perfect at the plate for the Boys were
Tom Straniero, winning pitcher Gary Pence (2RBI) and Brian Williams
(3RBI). Also helping out were Anthony
Santorelli (2H, HR, 2RBI) and Rick Wilson with a long triple and double. For
Awnings, Tom Pasko (2-2, R, RBI, BB) and John Campanella each had two of
the team’s 11 base hits. |

Liberty Lighting Group 21, Cranford VFW 6 |
|
LLG came out
swinging and scored 17 runs in the first 3 innings of play. Every batter in
the lineup had a multi-hit game pounding out 27 hits in a 5 inning game. Tom MacDermant, Lou Balestriere, Willie
Jackson, Harry Semple, Rick Regenthal and Steve Pietrucha all collected
doubles. Andre Thomas stroked a first
inning triple. Paul Southwick homered
in the 3rd and tripled in the 4th. |
