Top Line,
slugging out 26 hits, were led by Don Montefusco with 6 hits including a home
run and Ron Kulik who added 5 hits. Hitting stars for The Lensmen were
Anthony Miccio and Jeff Balish with 3 hits each. |

Riverside Inn 11, Linda’s Driftwood Inn # II,

In another close
game not decided until the bottom of the final frame, Riverside plated 2 in
the top of the 7th only to see Linda’s come back with 3 in the home half to
earn the victory. On offense,
Riverside was led by John McClung’s 4 hits as Paul Newton and Marc
Merriman added 3 hits apiece. |

Linwood Inn 16, Liberty Lighting Group 1 |
|
The Tap House
scored 6 runs in the first inning and another 10 runs over the last 4
innings, to coast to victory. Rich
Johns, Linwood pitcher, threw a masterful game supported by solid defense, in
silencing the usually potent LLG bats. For the victors, Steve Lerner was 4
for 4, the two Mikes, DiRienzo and Rzewuski had three hits each. Jim Sydlo,
Nick Mennona (2 triples), Jeff Villani, Stu Lukowiak and Glenn Anderson added
pair of hits a piece. Tom Ulichny had a multi hit game for LLG. |

Cranford VFW 25, Bad Brains 8 |
|
The VFW scored the maximum
6 runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings on route to victory over an undermanned BB
squad. Vic Trindade led the offense
for Cranford with 4 hits in 4 trips including 2 doubles. In addition, Juan
Moreno and Dan Ravetier were 3 for 3 with Dan driving in 4 runs. Nick Pace had 2 hits and drove in 3 runs as
well. For the Brainiacs, Jose Santana pounded out 5 hits while Carrie Cash
and Ramon Martinez each chipped in with 4. Pat Sarullo with 3 hits and Jose
Cortes and Keith Johnson, both with 2 hits for BB. |

Linwood Inn 14, Roselle American Legion 6 |
|
Linwood took the
lead in the 3rd inning scoring 6 runs then added 8 more over the final
innings. The Legion bats were held in check with solid pitching from Rich
Johns supported by tight team all around defense. Eight Tapmen had two or more hits: Steve Lerner, Mike
DiRienzo, Rich Johns, Jim Sydlo, Nick Mennona, Brian Schaefer, Joe Sarica,
and Stu Lukowiak. Dave Wayman, Jim McCullough
and Ralph Genova sparked the Roselle offense. |

Riverside with
21 hits had Tom Walenski lead the charge with 3 hits, 3 RBI’s and a 3 run
home run. Joe Hrubash added 3 hits. |

Liberty Lighting Group 9, Cranford VFW 8 |
|
Liberty jumped on top 3-1 after one inning of play and maintained the lead throughout the contest. Down 2 entering the 7th, The VFW managed to get two men on with one out and one in but could not get the big hit to tie or take the lead. Art Issler was perfect at the plate and Pat Nigro made several outstanding defensive plays at second for LLG. For Cranford, Dave Drechsel, Dan Ravetier and Carl Gamba were all 3 for 4 with Dan driving in 3 and Carl 2 runs respectively. Jerry Gaeta had 2 hits in 2 trips as well. |
