Linwood Taproom scored 6 runs in the 6th inning to go ahead
erasing an early 8 to 1 deficit. For Linwood, Mike DiRienzo and Brian Schaefer had 3 hits apiece. Joe
Sarica, Nick Mennona, Jeff Villani, Joe Menza, and Ed "Gryzz"
Gryzbowski added 2 hits each in
support of pitcher Tommy Siano’s 2nd victory after
coming off the DL. The Lensmen were led by Brian Latham, Solo Meola, Kerry
Gelb and Joe Lynch with 3 hits apiece. |
Linwood Inn
16, Top Line Appliance 6 |
For Linwood, Mike DiRienzo, Joe Menza, Nickie Mennona and Brian
Schaefer had 3 hits apiece. Joe Sarica, Jack Helfrich, Steve Lerner, Jeff
Villani, and Stu Lukowiak added a pair of hits each. Pitcher Tom Siano
pitched a fine game and was supported on defense with 3 infield double
plays. The Top Liners were led by Don Montefusco with 3 hits while, O
Hernandez, Bob Greco, Lou Collins and Joe Viso had 2 hits each. Pitcher Bob
Greco left the game with a dislocated finger and is fine. |
Awnings Galore
18, Rosie’s Wine Bar 10 |
Awnings got off to an early 12-2 lead only to see Rosie's charge
back with 8 runs in the late innings. The Window Treatments’ 27-hit attack
was led by Ray Meigs (3 RBI’s), John Rachko & Bruce Crawford (4 RBI’s)
with 4 hits each. For Rosie’s, Anthony Abbaleo, Rich Conklin and Mike Garcia
had 2 hits apiece |
Linda’s
Driftwood Inn, # II, 11, Cranford VFW 10 |
Cranford held a 5-0 lead after 3 innings but Linda's came back
with 5 in the 4th to tie. The score
went back and forth with VFW holding a one run advantage going into the
bottom of the 7th but Driftwood scored 2 runs to win the game. The VFW were
led by Frank Verducci and Mark McGlynn going 3 for 4 each, Nick Pace, Carl
Gamba and Ken Murray had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs apiece. |
AJ Jersey 15,
DeBellis Associates 7 |
Ken Shea and Howard Greco each had two clutch hits for AJ. |
Deegan Roofing
18, Contact Lens & Vision 11 |
The hitting star for Deegan was Marty Bernstein who was a
perfect 4 for 4 with five RBI's. Joe
Massimino and James "Knobby" Nardello also contributed 3 hits
apiece. For CLV, the game tied after 2 and a half innings, Brian Latham and
Slope Rzewuski had 3 hits each. |
Roselle
American Legion 15, Liberty Lighting Group 3 |
Harry Streep, pitching a masterful game, was supported by
several outstanding defensive plays from Pete Arteaga. Arteaga and Bill
Buteau hit run scoring triples while
Chris Paterek and Ed
Lubas recorded perfect nights for the
Legion. Tom Ulichney and Rob Stratton provided the offense for LLG. |
Top Line Appliance 8, Roselle American Legion 5 |
Top Line, with a 21 hit attack,
were led by winning pitcher Bob Greco and Ron Kulik with 3 hits. Also O Hernandez, Lou Collins, Tom Derocco, Whitey Mcormack, Bob D'Meo and Joe Viso had 2 hits each. |
Al Genova had 2 hits, including a run scoring triple, for The Legion and threw two men out at home. Bill Dugan had a run scoring double. |
Awnings Galore 20, Cranford VFW 11 |
Awnings, pounding out 27 hits were led by Bob Lorincz, a perfect 5 for 5 with a triple and 4 RBI's while Tom Colandro was 3 for 3 with a walk and 2 RBI's. Gary Cuttler (3B, 3RBI’s) and John Campanella (2-2B, 4RBI’s) had 3 hits each. Ray Meigs, Frank D'Antico, Angelo Mellilo, Randy Tarnofsky, Neil Granstrand and Bruce Crawford all had 2 hits apiece. For the VFW,who jumped out to an early 5-0 lead, Dave Drechsel was 3 for 4, while Nick Pace, Juan Moreno, Bill Hinkle, Mark McGlynn and Tony Amos all went 2 for 3. |
